Dynamic Physical Education
The Maricopa school districted adopted The Dynamic Physical Education Model. It allows each child to achieve and progress at their own rate and to develop physically through a wide variety of activities.
Each daily lesson Incorporates three to four parts depending on the lesson which include activities that develop the Major Instructional Elements.
1. Introductory Activity: (3-5 minutes) The purpose of the introductory activity is to prepare the child's body for fitness activity as well as provide the child with immediate activity upon entering class. (Example tag game)
2. Fitness Development: (6-7 minutes) The purpose of fitness development is to progressively exercise children in order to develop qualities of physical fitness such as strength, power, endurance, and flexibility.
3. Lesson Focus: (12-15 minutes) This area is the heart of each lesson. Its purpose is to carry out the overall objectives for general motor abilities, basic sport skills, basic movement principles and coordination and agility.
4. Game Activity: (3-7 minutes) The purpose of this area is to provide children with an opportunity to apply fundamental skills and knowledge learned in lesson-focus activities, and to emphasize cooperation and fun.
