Why Physical Education:
Obesity in kids is now epidemic in the United States. The percentage of children who are overweight or obese has more than doubled in the last 30 years; currently one child in five is overweight. About 85% of obese children continue to be classified as obese for the rest of their lives. Physical education offers many benefits: development of motor skills needed for enjoyable participation in physical activities; promotion of physical fitness; increased energy expenditure; and promotion of positive attitudes toward an active lifestyle. Evidence also exists that physical education enhances academic performance, self-concept, and mental health.
Grading:
Students are graded on three main areas Effort, Respect and Sportmanship. Grading scale isn't based off of a traditional A, B, C, D, F scale but an O (Outstanding) S (Satisfactory) and N (Needs Improvement).
